Chicago Southsider Goes Global!
We shared Chicago Southsider with Stockholm, Sweden last week!
No matter where you live, taking care of your mental health should be a priority.
During Mental Health Awareness month, we want to use our experience in Sweden to highlight 3 things you can do this week to nourish your mental health.
1. Visit a New Place
Last week, Chicago Southsider traveled to Stockholm. It is the capital of Sweden and the largest city in Sweden. There are over 900,000 people living in the urban area.
You don't have to leave the country to experience a new place. There's so much to explore on the South Side of Chicago.
Here are 10 top restaurants you can visit in Chicago's Bronzeville community.
2. Stimulate Your Brain with History
I signed up for a sightseeing tour in Stockholm to get a better idea of the city's history.
Here is what I learned: Sveriges Riksbank, the oldest central bank in the world, was founded from the ruins of Stockholms Banco.
If you want to learn more about Chicago's banking history, check out the making of the first Black-owned bank on the South Side of Chicago.
3. Do Something That Makes You Smile
Westfield Mall of Scandinavia is located in Solna in Stockholm, Sweden. It's next to Friends Arena — Sweden's national stadium. The mall opened in 2015 and is the fourth largest mall in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden).
