Debt-Free Before Graduation Challenge

1. Take a picture with the Debt-Free Before Graduation book (available on Amazon). Why? You want to create a vision of what you seek to accomplish. Look at the picture as often as you can and do what it takes to achieve your goal.

2. Send your picture to [email protected] and tag me on Instagram @charlenerhinehart. Use the hashtag #debtfreebeforegraduation. You have to make the vision so real that it has no choice but to become your reality.

3. Write a book review on Amazon after you purchase Debt-Free Before Graduation and read it. It's a quick read with six-figure tips!

4. The challenge will take place from November 12th - December 27, 2023. Winners will receive a Business, Beauty, or Brunch Gift Card and be selected during a Facebook LIVE in December and announced in an upcoming newsletter.

Do you have dreams of becoming an entrepreneur or taking your business to the next level? Here are 4 items to consider.

 Apply for grants to obtain business funding. Make sure you have your financial statements ready when you are applying for large grants. Check out the latest grants compiled by Chicago Southsider. Then, work with a grant writer to make sure you are putting your best foot forward.

Hire the right team. It's hard to acquire funds and manage those funds if you don't have a financial team in place. Hire an accountant or CPA to make sure you're on the right track. This is one of the first steps you want to take to prepare yourself for a successful business. If you own an accounting firm and would like to place an ad, send us an email at [email protected].

Receive Financial Statement Training. If you plan to run or grow a business, you have to know your numbers. Financial statements let you know how your business is doing and what it will take to get your business to the next level. Without financial statement knowledge, you limit the opportunities that are available to you. I teach financial statement training for journalists, investors, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders. It's pageant season!

Miss USA pageant. On October 3, 2022, Angel Reyes of Chicago placed top 5 at the Miss USA pageant. The 2023 Miss Illinois and Miss Illinois Teen USA pageant will take place from May 26-28, 2023 at the Braden Auditorium of Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

Miss Chicago pageant. If you've ever dreamed of becoming Miss America, you can apply to participate in the Miss Chicago competition taking place on January 7, 2023 at the Irish American Heritage Center, Chicago.

Beauty Buy of the Week. I purchased the Fitbit Luxe this week to track my sleep, steps, water intake, and other health items. Not only is the Fitbit Luxe helping me to prioritize my health, but it's also sleek and sylish. You can also change the bad and I really LOVE that.

What we're doing

New project. Getting the scoop on the Bronzeville Trail project. Stay tuned for more details. The goal of this trail is to transform the abandoned Kenwood "L' line embankment, located in the Bronzeville community, into a walking, running, and biking trail. This would provide a scenic and safe access to the lakefront.

Journalism Creator Summit. The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY hosted its second annual Journalism Creator Summit on Friday, November 4, 2022. It's so easy to attend sessions and forget to digest the information you learn. I plan to set aside 2 hours this weekend to compile my notes and identify 3 pieces of information I can use to achieve my goals.

Planning for Conferences in 2023. The 2023 Women in Journalism Workshop will take place from April 7-9, 2023 at the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Applications are available until November 18, 2022.
